In many ways, John Gotti appeared to be an ordinary fellow. He described himself as a salesman who sold pumbling and heating supplies to builders, and zippers to dressmakers. There was another side of Gotti, though. He frequented expensive restaurants, wearing custom made $1800 suits and designer socks. His hair was always freshly barbered, and his nails were meticously manicured. If you met him at such a nightspot, you'd probably guessed he was a rich, highly successful businessman, u might Approach him for a contribution to charity and you might recieve a general amount.
But there was another side of John Gotti, to US prosecutors, he was head of a crime family similar to that potrayed in the film THE GODFATHER. They considered him vicious, cold-hearted killer who was responsible for the deaths of scores of people. And they convinced the jury; Based in testimony from an informat.
SAmmy "the bull" Gravano, Gotti was convicted for the murder of five peopl and was given a life sentence. He died in prison in June2002.

Just who was John Gotti?
A warm, friendly neighbour? a wealthy businessman? A ruthless, greedy mobster, willing to do anything to keep control of his crime family?
Many people, like Gotti, haave diff sides to thier personalities, appearing one way to some people and quite differently to others. Yet to any one group of people who were aqquinted to Gotti, his behaviour was so probably consistent that they thought they could predict how he would behave, no matter what the situation.
